THE STORY OF A COUTURE HAT

THE STORY OF A COUTURE HAT AT LOVELY'S VINTAGE EMPORIUM  Once upon a time in the 1950s a beautiful young couture model, let's call her Nancy, decided that if one day she could afford some couture of her own then the first item she would purchase would be a hat for Royal Ascot.  Moving forward to the 1970s and Nancy was now married to a businessman, had a few beautiful children and homes in both the city and the countryside. When she was invited to the Royal Enclosure at Ascot she knew instantly what she would do. Above is the...

GUEST BLOG: VICTORIA LAMBERT AND VINTAGE FASHION

VICTORIA LAMBERT AND HER VINTAGE FASHION DILEMMAS About the guest blogger: Victoria Lambert is, in her own words, a journalist, artist/politician's wife, mother of one, rabbit-keeper and independently minded. On Twitter she can be found tweeting about most of the above as @lambertvictoria Take a peek in my wardrobe. Nestling between the 1970s Burberry raincoat, 1950s Riviera-style evening gown (turquoise and violet nylon), and the 1930s black and white spotted tea-dress in chiffon with floaty panels, you can find sleek linen shift dresses, fat pink palazzo pants, slinky hippie dresses that are Stevie-Nicks-tastic jostling for airspace with Chanel jackets and a velvet...

Here’s how we would style a few amazing items from Lovely's Vintage Emporium,...

LOVELY'S VINTAGE EMPORIUM LAUNCHES

WE LAUNCHED!!! LOVELY'S VINTAGE EMPORIUM IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!!! The launch of this website yesterday at 6.28pm was quite frankly overwhelming. My feed on the Twitterverse @LovelysVintage went crazy, Facebook imploded and LinkedIn congratulated me sedately like an elderly aunt. The launch was blogged about by Kellie Hill in her own inimitable way…take a look http://big-fashionista.blogspot.com/2011/03/lovelys-vintage-emporium.html I think I have converted her to the joys of vintage! Lets see if Kellie really does buy that green hat!   BUT then this bit of launch day brought a tear to my eye when Neandra Etienne @LuvFashionista on Twitter posted this   She is...

SOURCING VINTAGE FASHION

SOURCING VINTAGE FASHION by Lynnette Peck If you are reading this then it means you have found www.lovelysvintageemporium.com and you can now browse all my gorgeous vintage finds. I have never had so much fun! I have worn 'pre-loved' pieces since my teens and worked in vintage shop Steinberg & Tolkien at weekends when it first opened on the Kings Road in Chelsea in the early 1990s. Sadly it closed in 2007 but by then I was a grown up (sort of) and was busy collecting my own vintage. For this new venture (we launched in March 2011, when this blog post was written) I...
