Singer Donna Summer known as the 'Queen of Disco' has died of lung cancer at the age of 63.

Most of her big hits were in the 1970s/1980s but I heard/danced to her songs much later in the 1990s when I used to go to gay clubs in London with my 'boy gang' (as editor of a beauty magazine, Cosmopolitan Hair, in the late 1990s most of my male friends were hairdressers, make-up artists, stylists etc).

As soon as Donna's most famous hits such as 'Hot Stuff' or 'She Works Hard for Her Money' were played we all used to leave our vodka and cranberry juices on the bar and start dancing - well, I say dancing but I have two left feet so it was more me just moving around a bit whilst the 'boy gang' looked magnificent.

Donna (in her prime in the picture above) won five grammy's and was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the US Billboard chart. RIP Donna Summer.
