CELEBRITY HAIRDRESSER PAUL EDMONDS' VINTAGE LOOK SALON
I first met Knightsbridge hairdresser Paul Edmonds when I was the Editor of a magazine called Cosmopolitan Hair in 1999 and as you can imagine, every hairdresser from Land's End to John O'Groats seemed to want a piece of me (well, wanted their salon to appear in the pages of a Cosmopolitan title) but he was different.

At that time Paul was the hairdresser of the then-Editor of the main Cosmopolitan magazine and she recommended him so I presumed he would be great. From the minute we met I loved him - he has a gentle manner, is discreet, doesn't boast about his many achievements (he has been nominated eight times for Hairdresser of the Year) and he doesn't push you into having anything you don't want hair-wise. No dodgy haircuts or colour jobs at his salon.
And unlike many male successful London hairdressers his ego is normal not inflated. During his 25 year career he has mentored Richard Ward (his salon does the Duchess of Cambridge's hair), Errol Douglas and the late Umberto Giannini. He has worked with Dannii Minogue and Katy Perry amongst many other celebrity names.
A few weeks after we first met we found ourselves on a L'Oreal press trip to Barcelona together - as I am not one to tell tales out of school lets just say we discovered the nightclubs of Barcelona and he is as impressive as a dancer as he is a hairdresser. I can say that I somehow ended up dancing in a cage with lots of beautiful gay men...harmless fun at its best!
Anyway back to Paul and his salon. He has recently moved salons to a stunning townhouse - he is now at 217 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London. The new salon is beautiful, glamorous and luxurious. What really took my eye are the 'Private Rooms' for both hair and beauty (I will do a separate blog on the beauty offerings). He has lots of female clients from countries where they are not used to baring their hair in public so the 'Private Rooms' give them essential privacy. They are so sumptuous (see picture below) that I could have happily moved in. The interior design has been based on vintage glamour from the 1940s but with a contemporary twist.

If you are looking for a new hairdresser and you live in London or are prepared to travel then Paul is your man.
To make an appointment at Paul Edmonds call 020 7589 5958. If Paul is not available then I highly recommend Polly as she is a blow dry queen in my opinion. He does have a team of forty other hair stylists, colourists, beauticians and manicurists so you have a huge choice.
