WIMBLEDON started today (it runs from June 20th until July 3rd) and it is the 125th anniversary of this iconic UK summer sporting event. But the real story at the All England Club is not the ticket holders scoffing Champagne and strawberries, or the players thrashing around on Court One but for me it is the ball girls and boys...their uniforms have been updated by preppy brand Ralph Lauren.

The uniforms this year (see above) are in navy with the traditional Wimbledon shades of purple and green slashed across the polo shirts. The girls are in skirts and only the boys get to wear shorts...same as it ever was

Some Ralph Lauren shops stock 'The Wimbledon Collection' and it is at ralphlauren.com but what I don't understand, as lovely as these outfits are, is why it isn't a UK designer flying the flag for this very British event?

PS: I am not suggesting they dress like Venus Williams did today though...
